Power Yoga Fusion
by Tanya Lee is a layered movement and awareness system. It focuses on
mind-body-energy integration through deep core stability,
micro-strength, stamina, balance and flow. Routines
are designed to decrease imbalances caused by modern lifestyles while
increasing energy, self-awareness and peace of mind. A toned body is the
bonus prize.
“Fusion” means that it's Power Yoga "with a
twist". The root elements of power yoga are re-organized into a
well-researched system, designed to match the natural life cycle and
give you a complete and enjoyable experience. The word fusion also
infers that complementary teaching techniques from pilates,
dance, strength training and martial arts are blended throughout.
This program is valued by professional athletes, dancers and therapists,
but is designed for main stream audience - no fluffy language, no
preztel poses - just you, your body and your breath. PYF encourages moment-to-moment
authentic edge. This practice is about you, as you are - whatever that
may look or feel like.
In it’s complete form, Power Yoga Fusion is delivered to students in an
8-phase program. Step-by-step, starting with the deep core and
layered outward - each phase is carefully constructed as if planting a
seed and nurturing it through an entire cycle of birth, blossom and
release.
PYF teacher training program
reveals the deeper layers beneath the strategic formula as well as how
to share this 8-phase process with others.
Why Do Power Yoga Fusion?
The modern
lifestyle causes all sorts of imbalances - physical, mental and
emotional. Daily repetitive postures, movements and behaviors such as
driving, texting, and computer work, or worry, anxiety and multi-tasking
can cause some areas of your mind-body-emotion triad to be too tight
while causing others to be too weak. The result is energy drain, strain,
and chronic pain that inhibits us from feeling and looking comfortable
in our skin. Power Yoga Fusion was designed to counter these imbalances
- reclaim your center and regenerate your energy.
Where did "Power Yoga" come from?
NOTE: clarification of the term Yoga
The term Yoga was originally used to define a massive concept where
exercise is only a small fraction of the bigger picture.
Today, the word Yoga is mostly associated with
a meditative exercise method. Yogic exercise (asana) is one
branch of one path of Yoga which focuses on body-mind mastery, energy
cultivation, and ultimate rest.

Traditional Ashtanga Taught in India, a structured series of athletic heat
building poses done in a specific order linked with dance-like flow.
The practice sequence was birthed in the 1930's from an
interpretation of Patanjali's (East Indian Sage) ancient Sanskrit
notes. The interpreters: Yoga scholar
Sri Tirumala
Krishnamacharya (1888–1989) and a young
Sri K. Pattabhi Jois, Mysore India. |

were the first to learn and master the traditional system in India
and bring it to USA. |

Power Yoga Modifications to the structured Ashtanga
sequence for North American bodies. Pioneers: Bryan Kest, California USA - studied
with David Williams
and Pattabhi Jois. Bryan is an original
rebel yoga fusion artist who blends the flow of Ashtanga with
long-hold heat-building hatha poses. He coined the term "Power Yoga"
at roughly the same time as Norman Allen's student, Beryl Bender
Birch New York USA who authored the best-selling book, Power Yoga
and Beyond Power Yoga. |
Who is Power
Yoga Fusion for?
“This is the practice I use
to check in, center, align, strengthen and detox my body, mind, and energy.
The solo home-practice sets the environment for healing, observation,
reflection and self-awareness. These routines feel like a re-set button.
Most of the time I do a combo practice which includes a little from each of
the 8 phases, but if I need a specific area of infusion, the progressive
format allows me to jump to the phase I need at any point in time. For
example, if I need to ground, I go right to phase one - for detox, I do
phase 4 - if I need to re-connect to my heart, I do phase 6.” - PYF
creator, Tanya Lee
